HISTORY

Eastgate was birthed in the early 1930’s when believers in the Vidor area gathered to hear the preached Word of God. They first clustered under oak trees, then in brush arbors, and finally in a building on North Main Street.

Pastors George Bilbo and Dale Harvey grew small groups into a strong church family up to the mid 1950’s. After S. C. Hoyt was elected pastor in 1957 of, what was then called, North End United Pentecostal Church, he had a large vision and purchased the 10 acres that our main building sits on today. When G. R. Edwards became pastor in 1980, he oversaw the construction of the new building and led our church family in Apostolic Truth.

Matthew Tuttle was elected pastor in the summer of 2015. His wife, First Lady Michelle Tuttle, and their four children, McKyla, Savannah, Lewis and Eden, have a passion for the things of God and have helped Eastgate to grow both structurally and spiritually. Our departments and programs touch our community in many ways, help make disciples, and show us all how to connect, grow and go!
